This is a love story.
It was a dark and dreary afternoon in DC. Freezing rain bombarded the streets, and the wind was unforgiving. I was just coming back from my morning jazzercise class, when I became lost somewhere on 6th street. Fate intervened when I stumbled on a tucked away nook where I could hide from the storm.

I walked into that place defeated, numb, and a bit hangry. After a short wait, I was brought to a seat at the bar.The waitstaff was incredibly attentive and helpful as they assisted me with crafting the perfect experience. Ladies and gentlemen, that is the place to be. You are seated around the kitchen witnessing the creation of what might be the best bite in DC.I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen with the soft-boiled egg, bamboo shoots, and roast pork.

Receiving your bowl validates everything you’ve ever done to get to THIS moment. After receiving affirmative consent from the noodles, I made my move. That broth was richer than Bill Gates. The flavor was herbaceous and almost silky in its texture. The soy marinated egg was firm on the outside, and viscously runny on the inside. The bamboo shoots added the perfect amount of crunch to the equation, and the pork a grounded earthiness.
Folks, the ramen deserves its own damn paragraph. First off, I am not talking about that bullshit your stoned cousin threw in the microwave at midnight on a Tuesday. These strands of perfection are fresh. They have the elasticity for a solid bite, and the firmness to pull the dish together. I am confident in referring to them as transcendent.
All in all, Daikaya is one of the absolute best places to eat in DC. Everything is on point. Do yourself a kindness, and check out Daikaya at 705 6th St. Washington, DC 20001.
